Voor detijd zijnde heb ik een nieuwe held. Kan met leeftijd te maken hebben. Ik leesDe Vernuftige Edelman van La Mancha. Dat is een mooie titel en dat kan bestdoor het woord vernuftig komen. Hetbetekent scherpzinnig, vindingrijk, pienter, dat soort dingen. De engelsenhebben er ook een leuk woord voor: sagacious.De hoofdpersoon loopt tegen de vijftig en heeft veel gelezen. Hij wil zichinzetten voor het goede, hij wil een dolende ridder zijn. Als je richting devijftig gaat, als je de veertig bent gepasseerd, dan begin je in de gaten tekrijgen hoe de zaken in elkaar steken. Feitelijk heb je alles gehad, het wordtalleen nog maar slechter. Daarom houd ik van de vernuftige edelman. Hij laathet er niet bij zitten. Hij trekt er op uit. Hij is een held.
